AeroPress Brew Guide

For a 12oz cup.

What you’ll need:

  • Digital Kitchen Scale
  • 15 grams of whole bean coffee.  We recommend I.D. Coffee Co.
  • Hot water 1:00 to 1:30 of boil, kettle recommended
  • AeroPress coffee maker
  • AeroPress filter
  • Stirring Utensil (a spoon works great!)
  • Timer

How to brew it:

Step 1:

Grind 15 grams of coffee to a medium fine grind.  This is about the consistency of table salt.

Tip: Adjust the grind size as needed. If there is not enough resistance when pressing the plunger, grind the beans finer.  If there is too much resistance, grind the beans more coarse.

Step 2:

Place the filter in the filter cap and connect it to the AeroPress chamber.

Place the assembled cap and chamber on a mug.

Pour hot water into the chamber, just enough to rinse the filter of its paper taste.

Discard the Paper water and place the Aeropress back on the mug

Step 3:

Pour 15 grams of ground coffee into the chamber.

Start timer.

Slowly pour 250 grams of water over the coffee or until the water is just above the #4 on the camber.

Step 4:

Using a paddle or spoon, stir for 10 seconds

Step 5:

When timer reads 1:20, insert the plunger and slowly press until you hear a hissing sound.  The pressing action should take about 20 seconds.

Total brew time should land between 1:40 to 1:50 minutes.

Tip: If there is not enough resistance when pressing the plunger, grind the coffee beans finer.  If there is too much resistance when pressing the plunger, grind the coffee beans more coarse.

ENJOY!
